A contract almost never arrives in the format you need it in. It is a PDF when you need to edit it, a Word file when you need to send something that cannot be edited, a spreadsheet when the numbers need to go into a filing, or a photograph when you needed a document.
The thing worth knowing before you convert anything: conversion is not symmetric. PDF → Word rebuilds the layout as Word structures and gets it close; Word → PDF fixes the layout exactly. Going out and back is not a round trip, and each pass costs a little formatting. Convert once, in the direction you actually need.
The second thing: a scanned PDF is not a PDF for these purposes. It is a picture of pages, with no text inside to convert. Every converter here will hand you back an empty or image-only result until the scan has a text layer. Fix that first — it is free and takes seconds.

- The price annex is a spreadsheet and the filing only accepts PDF.

Document converters — questions
Which converter should I use to edit a PDF contract? +
PDF to Word. It rebuilds paragraphs, headings and tables as editable Word structures, so you can redline the clauses and send tracked changes back. Convert to PDF again only when you are finished.
Why is my converted file empty? +
Almost always because the source is a scan — a picture of pages with no text in it. Run it through Make PDF Searchable first, which writes a real text layer into the file, then convert.
Do the converters keep my file? +
No. Every converter processes your file in memory and keeps no copy. There is nothing to delete afterwards.
Is there a size limit? +
Ten megabytes per file. Image exports additionally cap at 50 pages, because rasterising a 400-page document is a different kind of job.
