Why use LegalValidate for pdf to excel (xlsx)

One sheet per table

Each table found in the document becomes its own worksheet, so a price list and a payment schedule do not end up stacked in one grid.

Rows and columns, not text

Values land in cells you can sum, sort and chart — which is the entire reason to get a table out of a PDF.

Reads ruled tables reliably

Tables drawn with visible borders — how contracts almost always present schedules — are what this is tuned for.

Says so when it finds nothing

If the document has no table the tool tells you, instead of handing back an empty workbook.

When you need this

  • The payment schedule is in the contract and you need to total it.
  • A penalty table has to go into your finance model.
  • You are comparing the price annexes of three vendor quotes.
  • An invoice arrived as a PDF and the line items need to be reconciled.

What this tool will not do

  • Columns aligned with spaces or tabs rather than drawn as a table are not reliably detected — the tool reads ruled tables, not visual alignment.
  • A scanned PDF has no table structure at all. Make it searchable first, and even then expect to check the result.
  • Merged cells and multi-row headers are flattened; the numbers are right, the presentation may need tidying.

PDF to Excel (XLSX) — questions

What if the PDF has several tables? +

Each one becomes its own sheet in the workbook, in document order. If you would rather have plain data, PDF to CSV outputs them one after another.

Why did it find no tables? +

Most often the "table" is columns laid out with tabs and spaces, which has no structure to extract. Occasionally the document is a scan, in which case make it searchable first.

Is the extraction accurate? +

For ruled tables, values land in the right cells. Always sanity-check totals before relying on them in a financial decision — this is extraction, not audit.

Can I get CSV instead? +

Yes, PDF to CSV produces plain comma-separated data for imports.

Is the document a contract?

The same file can be read against six criteria — clarity, risk protection, enforceability, balance of terms, structure and overall exposure — free and without an account.

Need to do more than one thing to this document?

Open it in the document workspace instead: upload once, then reorder, rotate, delete, merge and compress without sending the file again.
