What this tool will not do
- A scanned PDF has no text to convert. Run it through Make PDF Searchable first — otherwise the Word file comes back with pictures of words in it.
- Complex multi-column layouts, headers and footers may be repositioned. The text and the tables are the priority; pixel-perfect reproduction of a designed page is not.
- Form fields and digital signatures do not survive the conversion — a signed PDF converted to Word is a draft, not a signed document.

Will the formatting change? +
Text, headings and tables are preserved. Complex layouts — multiple columns, boxed sidebars, decorative headers — may shift, because the converter rebuilds the document as Word structures rather than as a picture of the page.
Does it work on a scanned contract? +
Not directly. A scan is an image and contains no text to convert. Run it through Make PDF Searchable first, which adds a real text layer, then convert it here.
Is there a page or file limit? +
Files up to 10 MB. There is no page limit beyond that, and no daily cap on how many documents you convert.
Do you keep my contract? +
No. The file is converted in memory and never written to disk. There is nothing to delete afterwards and nothing to leak.
Can I convert the Word file back to PDF? +
Yes — Word to PDF is the reverse tool, and it is equally free. A common round trip is PDF → Word to edit, then Word → PDF to send.
Is the document a contract?
