These do not change what format a document is in. They change what is in it: which pages, in what order, at what size, and whose signature is on the end.
The distinction that matters here is one job or several. Merging two files is one job and should not require a session — you upload, you download, nothing is kept. But rotating the sideways pages, then dropping the duplicate annex, then merging in the addendum, then compressing the result is four jobs on one document, and uploading it again between each is the wrong shape. How do I combine a contract with its annexes? +

What is the difference between Split and Extract pages? +
Split produces several files from one document in one shot and keeps nothing. Extract keeps a chosen set of pages as the document you carry on working on, inside a workspace session.
Is an electronic signature here legally binding? +
In many jurisdictions an electronic signature is binding for ordinary commercial contracts, and this produces one. It is not a qualified digital signature with a certificate, which some registries and regulated transactions require.
Will compressing lose the text? +
No. Text stays text and stays searchable — it is the page images that are re-encoded, which is where the size in a scanned document actually is.
