How to Use LegalValidate.ai to Instantly Review Your Contracts
Waiting days for a first read on a contract is the part that hurts. LegalValidate.ai gives you that first read in under a minute — and you can run one right now, without an account.
Here is exactly what happens to your document, and what you get back.
Step 1: Get the document into a readable state
The review reads text. Most documents already have it, and you can skip straight to step 2.
The exception is a scan or a photo — a picture of a contract with no text in the file at all. Nothing can review that until it has a text layer:
- Scanned PDF → Searchable PDF writes the text back in. The pages look exactly as they did.
- JPG → PDF or PNG → PDF first, if what you have is a photo.
- Merge PDF if the annexes arrived as separate files — the terms and the schedule should be read together.
All free, all in the browser, none of them stored.
Step 2: Upload it
Drop a PDF, a Word .docx or a text file onto the home page. No account, no card, three documents a day.
The document does not have to be in English. The review works in the language the contract is written in — English, Russian and Uzbek included — and answers in that language.
Step 3: Read the six scores
Within about half a minute you get a score out of 10 on six things, each with one sentence saying why:
| What it measures | The question behind it |
|---|---|
| Clarity and Completeness | Is anything important left undefined? |
| Risk Protection | If the other side breaches, what can you actually do? |
| Legal Enforceability | Would these terms hold up? |
| Balance of Terms | Whose contract is this, really? |
| Structural Integrity | Are the standard pieces present and in order? |
| Overall Risk Exposure | What are you carrying by signing? |
Alongside them you get the document type the AI recognised, the language it detected, and — the number worth looking at first — a count of the concrete weaknesses it found: missing clauses, undefined terms, one-sided obligations.
If the file is not a legal document at all, it says so rather than inventing an analysis of your invoice.
Step 4: Fix it, not just diagnose it
The scores tell you where a contract is weak. An account goes the step further and rewrites the document — strengthening the loose clauses and adding the standard provisions that are missing, in the original language — and hands you a change log of what it did, marked as:
- Added — a clause that did not exist before
- Clarified — a vague term given a definition
- Risk reduced — a one-sided provision made safer
That is the half that takes real work, and the reason to sign up.
When you are happy with the result, sign it without printing anything.
When to still involve a lawyer
An AI review is a fast, thorough first pass. It is not counsel. Bring in a human for:
- 📈 Funding rounds — SAFEs, term sheets, anything touching your cap table
- 🌎 Cross-border contracts where the governing law is genuinely in play
- ⚖️ Anything already in dispute
The useful way to think about it: the AI tells you which twelve things to ask about, so you are not paying someone to find them.
FAQ
Do I need an account to try it? No. Three documents a day from the home page, no sign-up.
What does it cost after that? A free account covers 3 documents a month. Starter is $9.99/month for 10, Pro $19.99/month for 30 and Business $49.99/month for 50 — or $99, $199 and $499 a year.
What happens to my file? The free document tools never store anything — the file is processed in memory and gone. The document workspace does hold your upload while you work on it, and deletes it automatically a couple of hours later. Documents you analyse in your account stay in your account until you delete them.
Can it replace my lawyer? No. It replaces the first read — the slow, expensive part where someone works out what is in the document before anyone gives advice on it.
